ISP and Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) Field Trip

On October 24, EPS professor Seth Stein led a group of ISP and EPS students on a field trip to Glacial Park in McHenry County, IL. This park covers over 2,806 acres and has a rich biological diversity. In addition to learning many interesting facts about the topography of the park,  everyone had a great time.

With the sun finally peaking through the clouds, ISP and EPS students and faculty gather for a group picture.

Seth Stein discusses global warming.

Sharan Srinivason (EC05) was awarded a spot in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Graduate Partnerships Program this spring. According to the NIH, "The Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) was crafted to take advantage of the best of two worlds – the academic environment of highly respected universities and the breadth and depth of research at NIH.  The goal is to create a different kind of graduate experience, one which purposefully focuses on skills of the future scientist and how discoveries will be made in the decades ahead." See gpp.nih.gov/Current/ for more details.

Two current ISP students Zack Nicolaou and Aleksandr Zhukhovitskiy (both EC07) were recently awarded Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year.
